How to Choose the Right Compression Layer for the Day Ahead | UNDR Part II

Tailor's chalk and tape measure on a folded compression garment

The correct size for a men's compression garment is two measurements and a short rule. This guide is the plain reference for getting the fit right on the first order.

The two measurements

Chest at the widest point across the nipple line, tape running horizontally around the back. Waist at the navel, tape running horizontally around the back. Stand naturally, breathe out, do not hold the stomach in. Write both numbers down in centimetres.

Mapping to the UNDR size guide

S covers chest 86–94 cm and waist 71–79 cm. M covers chest 94–102 cm and waist 79–87 cm. L covers chest 102–110 cm and waist 87–95 cm. XL covers chest 110–118 cm and waist 95–103 cm. XXL covers chest 118–126 cm and waist 103–111 cm. Sizes above are available on request for the Daily and Support Compression Vests.

The rule for between sizes

Size up for the UNDR Men's Daily Compression Vest. The open-bottom design and graduated panel handle a slightly larger size cleanly. Stay true to the larger measurement for the UNDR Men's Support Compression Vest. The three-row closure handles the difference. Size to the chest for the UNDR Men's Full Compression Body.

The mistake to avoid

Do not size down expecting more compression. A garment that is too small produces less compression, not more, because the fabric loses its graduated profile and the closure shifts. The hem rolls. The chest panel slips. The result is worse than the correct size by a wide margin.

How to know the fit is right

Put the garment on first, before the shirt, while the body is still cool. The closure sits firmly but not aggressively. There should be no breath restriction, no pinch under the arms, no roll at the lower hem. Inside ninety seconds of buttoning the shirt over the vest, a man stops noticing the garment is there. That is the felt sign that the fit is right.

The honest answer

How to choose the correct size for men's compression garments is two measurements and one rule. Measure chest and waist. Map to the UNDR size guide. Size up for the Daily, stay true to the larger measurement for the Support. The first order arrives correctly fitted, and the garment earns its place in the wardrobe from day one.
